The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 has consolidated and replaced 13 Central labour laws relating to occupational safety, health and working conditions, including the Factories Act, 1948 and the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Central Rules have been notified and Kerala State is in the process of bringing the new regulatory framework into effect. This training programme is proposed to provide stakeholders with a practical understanding of the key provisions of the OSH Code and the applicable Rules, with particular emphasis on the changes from the erstwhile Factories Act and BOCW Act, the duties and responsibilities of employers, workers and other stakeholders, occupational safety and health requirements, working conditions, welfare provisions, registration and licensing requirements, safety management and compliance obligations. The programme is intended to facilitate a smooth transition to the new regulatory framework and enable participants to understand and effectively discharge their statutory responsibilities under the emerging OSH regime.
